You might be surprised to learn that during my many visits to New Orleans, I’ve spent very little time in the pursuit of street art. That’s partly because there isn’t any street art in the French Quarter, nor should there be, and what little there is in other neighborhoods had, until very recently, eluded me.
The street art/mural movement has started to catch on and I was thrilled to discover, stumble upon, some pretty nice pieces while walking town. I know there is more, and that I’ve missed a number of wonderful pieces, but time was limited and I look forward to seeking them out the next time I’m in town. In the meantime, here’s what I did find…

I think these days there are few towns without street art…except Regensburg, we still have none and will never have any. I like how the NOLA murals really depict a lot of cultural, local scenes familiar with the area! #FarawayFiles
I agree, most places do have it, but you’d be surprised by how little there really is in NOLA. I expected there to be more, since it’s such a creative art centric town, but It just wasn’t a thing there, until recently that is. 😊

I like the Williams quote, although I am sure it is even funnier if you have the slightest idea what Cleveland is like!
Yes, I hadn’t thought it it that way, but it does lose something if you aren’t familiar with Cleveland, which might have a reputation for being a little bit boring. 😘
Another reason to venture outside the French Quarter. I like the colours and the ones that remind me of Dias de Muerte themes.
Yes! NOLA has a lot of voodoo themes.
How do you always find the best street art wherever you go? I was just talking to a friend at work about maybe going to New Orleans for the honeymoon, and he gave me lots of tips about the French Quarter, and now I have street art outside of that too! #FarawayFiles

There’s a lot of interesting art here. I think my favourite is the kid with the yellow crayon on the blue building. So clever how the yellow drawing continues on to the street. #farawayfiles

It seems that street art is taking off in many places, and I love how it’s evolving into beautiful, thoughtful murals (for the most part). I’d definitely check out a few from this list if I got to visit NOLA. #FarawayFiles

I took a picture of the woman and Skeleton on Decatur Street yesterday. I tried finding the artist to tag them, which is how I found your post. The name is in the wrought iron, Lefevre EJ. I assume EJ Lefevre. There is a Lefevre art supply shop in the city. I love a mystery, your piece was well done!
